After a rather cold spring here in Madrid and with those crazy temperatures in central Europe, I was thinking I'd moved to the wrong place. Well, this can change rapidly here, I am running around with T-shirt only 24/7 now (no, I am wearing pants...). To my dismay, I still have more work than I can cope with in my normal time, meaning the weekends are not free. At least I am (among other stuff) writing a book chapter on biomedical text mining, which is somewhat fun work. Also, I am back to street hockey again, which is a good vent for all this stress.
The trip to the south, to Salobreña was a real success. Although I forgot my passport at home, so we could not go to Morocco, Gema and me had a great time on the spanish coast. Two days we spent just hanging around on marvelous beaches in the sun, cooling down a bit in the Mediterranean sea at times. The third whole day we had we used for an excursion to Nerja near by, where there is a huge cave. It has the largest stalactite of the world, 30 meters high and about same as wide - you can find it in the Guinness book, they say, and it was inhabited by humans 25,000 years ago already. The evenings we spent going to good restaurants, enjoying excellent wines and the local kitchen. As we were off season, the tons of tourists populating this area were still missing and probably a huge advantage for the relaxed experience. As soon as I have some more time, I'll add the pics to the gallery.
